Well... our Christmas did NOT go as planned. The plan WAS to meet my family (+ Ashley's boyfriend, Chase) at a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. However, when we woke up to a winter wonderland in Chattanooga, David and I knew it would be an interesting day. Before we got on the road, David made a wise decision to put on his big boots and throw a shovel in the car... just in case. Of course, four inches of snow is nothing to him, but he is getting used to the craziness that results in the case of a southern snow. The roads were untreated and the snow was still falling, but we made it along just fine. My parents and Greg were enroute the same time as us, so we kept calling each other to make sure everyone was still on track. We all were until they made it to the foot of the mountain... After SEVERAL attempts up the icy road, several trips to a local ditch and several generous neighbors pulling (with a 4-wheel drive vehicle) and pushing (with a tractor) the car... they threw in the towel, called a tow truck and rerouted everyone to Chattanooga.

a neighbor took Greg and Mom to a gas station to wait it out... to "pass the time" they bought lottery tickets and boiled peanuts! Mom bought $10 worth in tickets and she won 5 bucks. Later, she told my dad, "So, it only cost us $5!" haha...
Ten hours after they left Columbus, GA, they arrived - safe and sound - in our Chattanooga driveway, where cheering ensued, and "Christmas" began.
