Harley's worn out! Between playing at the park with David while I ran this morning and playing with/chasing/running from Kate and KJ tonight, Harley has had a full, fun day! (So have we =))

Happy 14th Birthday, Harley!
Yesterday was Harley's 2nd birthday!
David bought him some new toys (that is obsessed with) and some fancy dog food (that he inhaled).
We love this little pup!
... and get excited, Harley. Next year you can drink!

Harley's beach trip
We took Harley to the beach on Thanksgiving morning, just to see what he would do. Well, the trip turned sour somewhere between the car and the ocean when he stepped in a bush full of sand spurs (?)... He had this tiny little prickly things ALL over him, and they were embedded between the pads on his feet! So we spent the first 15 minutes wrestling with the dog and picking those awful things off him.
After the drama was over and he realized he wasn't hurting anymore (poor thing just wanted to be held because his feet hurt)... Harley went nuts. He was chasing birds and licking seashells and playing in the tide like a cute little puppy.
We took him home, bathed him (by we I mean David) and he was as good as new.
Then, he barfed everywhere because he swallowed some salt water.
Amen.

battle scars
Last Saturday we were out at the lake with the Bryants like any other summer weekend. All of a sudden, Harley and Rascal (one of their miniature dachshunds) starting fighting. Now, let me just say, these are dogs who have never liked each other. Harley loves Bear and Rascal, but they despise him. Fortunately, they have all learned to tolerate one another which is nice for us since we're around kind of a lot.
I have no idea what made them snap this time (or who was really responsible), but they were really going at it. Kevin was finally able to break them free, and Harley took off to the car right away. He is really fine, but Rascal did get him pretty well. He had a big cut under his eye, and it swelled up pretty badly the next day.
So, I took him home (instead of spending the night like we had planned...) and he did a bunch of this:
Now, a few days later, it has started to scab over and it just looks nasty... and like a black eye.
Poor puppy! Although he hasn't been in any pain at all, it still makes me so sad that he was hurt! I don't know how people with real children handle their ailments...

Harley's glamour shots
A couple months ago Becca took some pictures of Harley just for fun and practice. Unfortunately it was spur of the moment and the dog was diiirty... but even still, she took some super fun pictures!

he's ready
In preparing to go to my parent's house for the weekend, we brought our airmatresses downstairs.
Harley, realizing we were going out of town, decided he didn't want to miss out on the fun...
...So he set his bed with ours.
Not kidding... he dragged his bed out of his house, put it there with our air mattresses and sat beside it so we wouldn't forget to take him too.
We would never forget our little buddy!

Easter weekend: Part 2
Yes, I'm just now posting the second part of Easter weekend...
The theme of part one was fish, and the theme of part two is puppies! Man, we are lame-o.
It's true, Bella had puppies! Harley is kind of a dead-beat dad, but he doesn't really understand so we don't fault him too much.

Ashley's dog, Kensie, was in town too! She was worn out from all the playing.
We took Bella & the babies to visit the Rhineharts!
Yep, they were in love.
We all pretty much were/are. There are few things sweeter than new wittle puppies!
Oh, and there were people in Columbus Easter weekend too! We celebrated Mom's birthday with a traditional Mexican lice-hat dinner.
We also enjoyed lots of time playing outside (with the dogs, of course), dyeing eggs, going to the sunrise service at church and catching up with the fam!

the diaries of a sick puppy
For the past two days, this is what Harley's life has looked like:
He's on the mend, but still feeling puny!
