Lawson is {one month}

Weight- 8lbs., 12oz.

Length- 21.5 inches

Lawson, a one month old, you:

  • have a typically cranky time from 4-6pm.
  • like to be held a lot.
  • sleep in the rock and play at nighttime and like the nap nanny a lot during the day.
  • spit up a ton. Not sure what that's all about... it doesn't seem to bother you, but man it's a mess. We've been giving you gas drops after nursing and that seems to help sometimes.
  • nurse usually 2x a night and about every 3 hours during the day. Sometimes I have to wake you up to feed you during the day, but in the evenings you are starting to cluster feed.
  • are noisy! You grunt and groan so loudly.
  • have very blue eyes (that we hope are permanent!).
  • had a cold last week that kept me up literally all night one night monitoring your breathing. I took you to the dr first thing the next morning (I'm so paranoid about pneumonia!) to confirm that it was just a cold.
  • poop in every single diaper. The dr said its probably the antibiotics you were on still working their way out of your system.
  • have a strong grip. You get a handful of my shirt or hair (yikes), and I have a hard time getting it away from you.
  • don't love your car seat some of the time, but otherwise are very easy going and laid back.
  • JUST lost your belly button stump a couple days ago
  • have dry flaky skin, baby acne and the softest head of hair.
  • would probably sleep for days on your belly... If only we could let you!
  • are kind of a mommy's boy. I'm ok with that :)

Everyone always says this, but we agree that we couldn't imagine our lives without you!

Crawford in a teal shirt

This was a rare day that I took out the "real" camera, and I caught some fun pics of the big little boy...

with a snotty nose. Beware, dirty little boy face ahead:

Later that same night, Crawford and I shared a bowl of ice cream on the porch.
And he was cute.

The end.
Good story, huh?

20 months

Crawford, at 20 months old you,

Oh my word, child. You are a hot mess. "A mess!" as you and Mrs. Shelby would say :). And yes, eating lunch INSIDE your crib... it was sheet-change day anyway.

  • are a big brother! Obviously this month has brought lots of changes for your little life, but you're doing pretty well. In fact, you really do love Lawson. You randomly give him kisses and try to put his paci in (and shockingly don't try to steal it too often). You certainly had a rough go for a little while, but I think a lot of that is just your age and personality (strong willed, you are). You haven't shown much jealousy or anger about the baby, so I think we're doing pretty well. You think it is hilarious when he cries (score!) and when he nurses. We pray that you two are going to be best buds one day, and I can already see that love blossoming. Praise Jesus.
  • blow us away with how much you know and how quickly you are learning new things.
  • can almost count to 10 on your own, can recognize and say all of your letters (O is sometimes "circle" and sometimes "ball" though- it's cute), and are getting pretty close to being able to spell Crawford and Elmo by yourself.
  • push your lawn mower vigorously all around the yard and driveway, and say "mow mow gass" all the time.
  • love your little play cars, and actually stay occupied for long(ish) periods of time just by driving them through the house.
  • get fixated on whatever you're holding - a toy car, rock, nut, etc. - and refuse to put it down. We end up with lots of "treasures" inside the house.
  • love your baby brother and love to give him kisses.
  • give kisses by leaning your face in and saying "mah! mah!"
  • are very testy about going upstairs or coming in from outside
  • know the difference in a soccer ball, basketball and football.
  • repeat everything we say
  • hate having your diaper changed
  • can be SO defiant
  • say "apple asses" instead of applesauce
  • think gagging yourself is hilarious
  • "I love you five"
  • love to pray. You've been just saying "Amen!" at the end of our prayers, but now you repeat after us ("Dear God, thank you for ___.") You always thank God for Lawson first. Melts my heart. Other times you say thank you for bubbles, food, Max, Ella, Unc Bull, etc.
  • say "no" like it is your favorite word ever. We are working on the appropriate usage of "yes" because sometimes when you say no, it means yes. That's confusing.
