Get ready for a babillion pictures.
David's parents have a house on Sanibel Island and we were ready for some warm weather, so away we went! We left my parents' house Saturday evening about 5:30 to maximize sleeping time, and everyone did great. Actually, Crawford did GREAT and Lawson did fine. He wasn't thrilled to be in his car seat that long, and it took some creative coaxing to get him to fall asleep. I may or may not have perched myself above his carseat to nurse...
Sunday was the best day ever. David and Crawford went to Jerry's for the world's best apple fritters (it's a fact), and I may have eaten three. Hey! I was on vacation.
We also got to spend a good bit of time with "Papa Jim", who Crawford loved. He especially loved his "motorcycle" (scooter).
We loaded up to test out the beach, and it was a HIT. Let me just say, the beach is almost BEST when you can't get in the water. No sand sticking to you, no salt water in your eyes. Just playing and running and enjoying the sunshine.
One trip to the beach= passed out (with feet crossed) on the way home.
Grammie Rae and Papa Dale are in Florida at the RV park for the winter, so we loved getting to spend time with them too. I can't believe Crawford knows and loves his great-grandparents as much as he does! What a gift.
My top priority for the week was just to let Crawford be outside as much as possible, and we accomplished that for sure! He ran the (flat, quiet) streets of the neighborhood to his heart's content. A neighbor down the street had a basketball goal, and I'm just glad they didn't call the cops on us for trespassing.
This may be my favorite picture of Crawford to date.
These moments are so rare and precious. Lawson was sleeping on my chest and Crawford snuggled up with us. Heart melted.
We went to the RV park one afternoon to go swimming, and it was SO fun. It took him a minute to warm up to the water, but all this kid needs is a ball to make any place a game.
I wanted to take pictures of the boys in their matching swimsuits (that I monogrammed!), but that is still a losing battle. Crawford has never held Lawson, he doesn't often sit still and he rarely smiles at the camera. Oh well.
We checked out the walking paths at Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge.
This is such a perfect depiction of Crawford. ALWAYS going.
One afternoon we had planned to have a picnic dinner on the beach near the grandparents, but the weather got cold and rainy so we walked around and ate at Perkins :).
We fed the birds and looked at the animals at the trailer park on the island,
and we played at the playground.
I was pretty nervous about the ride home, but it was wonderful. Crawford was silent the entire time because he was absolutely glued to Veggie Tales. He took about a 30 minute nap and then finally fell asleep around 10pm. We stopped at Chick Fil A in Perry, GA for dinner and randomly ran into the Westmorelands (Samford's president)! Small world. We made it home right at 11pm (11.5 hours after we left Sanibel) and our power was out. Womp, womb. Fortunately, the EPB trucks were already here and replacing the transformer in front of our house. It was back on after about 20 minutes and we got everyone in and back to bed right away.
We are already planning our next trip to Sanibel for May because we cannot go back soon enough!!
