The morning after the baby shower, we stopped at Samford to burn some little boy energy and to just reminisce. It had literally been years since I had stepped foot on that gorgeous campus and I loved getting to take Crawford there to enjoy it. Kristen met us to walk around, and she totally surprised us by telling us her ENGAGEMENT story that took place after the shower the night before! And at Samford!  So we had a blast being excited about her wedding and chasing Crawford around our old stomping grounds.

Samford has new dorms that back RIGHT up to our old abode- the Currie Way house! Obviously, it isn't much to look at (this is the backside of the 6,000 sq ft house!), but it was crazy to be back to check it out.

Such a fun morning at one of my favorite places! And, Crawford slept nearly ALL of the 2.5 hour drive home. Hallelujah! 

Lambaby shower

This weekend David, Crawford and I loaded up and headed to Birmingham for a quick overnight visit. The official occasion was to throw a baby shower for my sweet friend Jamie, but it was a perfect excuse for a mini Currie Way reunion. The last time I was with this group of girls all together was at Jamie's wedding almost exactly two years ago. 

AND, since we were together last (for Kara's baby shower!), Kara has had baby Benjamin! We stayed at the Hamilton's house so we had some good quality time with Kara, Ryan and Benji. Since college, I have had the best bonding-time with my friends because of our pregnancies and babies (Brit first, then Kara, now Jamie). I am so thankful the Lord has blessed us with this sweet sweet time to share together.

These pics are ridiculous and awesome. This was the first time we were all together - and with our baby boys! It was past bedtime for 2/3 of the boys... Good times.

Sweet Brit had Callan just weeks after I had Crawford, and we spent lots of late nights texting back and forth about nursing and all things new baby. It was so fun to be together, though far too brief!

another one bites the dust

This weekend I went to Knoxville to attend the wedding of one of my college roommates. What made it even better is that Abby's wedding made for the perfect excuse for a mini reunion slash road trip for some of my Birmingham friends! Kara, Cliff, Jenn and Kristen all came and we had SO much fun!

Sus was in the wedding, and it was great to see her twice in just a few months!

In honor of my good friend Kristen and her Chattanooga visit last weekend, I have decided to take a stroll down our friendship memory lane, highlighting spring breaks along the way.

Spring Break 2005:

Camping and backpacking in North Carolina

Notice the bandage on my hand... it's a good story, actually. On the last night of our backpacking adventure, I sliced my finger while opening a can. It was a really deep cut, but not worth bailing on our night under the stars. Fortunately for me, we had prepared for injuries and packed a first aid kit. Unfortunately for me, someone had blisters along the way and used all of the gauze. So, we improvised and tied a true bandana tourniquet around my throbbing finger and I braved the pain through the night (ok, I'm being dramatic, but it seriously hurt). The next day we stopped in at Abby's dad's office in Knoxville (he is a neurologist... and I was there for a tetanus shot...) and he hooked me up. Back to the unfortunate part: I hadn't showered in multiple days and he (remember: he was my good friend's dad) had to give me the shot in my rear. Good times. Oh, and I still have a numb third of my ring finger on my right hand.

Still to this day one of my favorite vacations of all time... I read 6 awesome books and did some serious napping.

(hey, it's Samford's spring break this week... at least we can pretend like we're still getting one!)

So, I love this kid. Looking back through all of the pictures just reminds me how much! Kris is back from a 2-year term with the Peace Corps in Ethiopia, and she is seriously the coolest person I know. While she was gone she learned Amharic, created programs to help victims of the HIV/AIDs epidemic, taught English, bathed out of a bucket, built a mill to give orphans work, ate injera, celebrated new holidays, seriously fell in love with some new friends and learned a ton about herself and God's heart for this country (and so, so much more!). We could probably not be at more different points in our lives, but it is amazing to see friendship endure over many years and many, many miles. You are awesome, Kris!
