fun family day

This weekend we were able to enjoy a morning walk around downtown. Crawford loves riding in the stroller, so that makes outings like this especially enjoyable. I took him on his first carousel ride, and he enjoyed watching everything pass us by (especially Daddy and Hayden who were acting crazy each time we came around). Yay for a fun city to enjoy as a family!

visit from the Geyers

David's older brother Michael and his family (Aunt Lynn and cousin Matthias) came to visit last week! They hadn't met Crawford or been to Chattanooga, so we filled their visit up with all kinds of fun things!

Tuesday night after grilling out at home, we went for a walk in Coolidge and Renaissance Parks. It was still warm (duh), but it was such a fun night. Matthias ran around and played, and we even got to slide down Renaissance Hill (check that off the list!)

Other than doing lots of fun things (the Geyers also went to the Creative Discovery Museum and rode the Incline Railway), we spent a lot of time just chatting and catching up. It had been far too long since we all spent quality time together so we soaked up the conversation time we had. We always love having visitors, but it's extra special to spend time with family!

We didn't take any pictures at the actual game, but this was in the car on the way there. Crawford busted out his baseball cap (thanks, Sheri!) and I don't think it gets much cuter than this!

We should have taken pictures at the game though, because our group was awesome slash hilarious. We were with the Slattons, Linhosses, Arnolds, Ehingers and Greg making a raucous with all of our crazy babies. Fortunately, it was a baseball game and no one cared. Then, we traipsed across downtown to eat dinner at Lupi's and I kept snickering at what our lives look like now. We took up half of the restaurant, two of us were nursing, two kids were passed out asleep on their moms, we had car seats and diaper bags and paraphernalia EVERYWHERE. It was hilarious and real life. I loved it.

yet again

We had another great weekend! They've been pretty consistently great lately. I realized that my blog is probably boring... every Monday I post a long post about every single thing we did that weekend and then through the week it's just about anything exciting we have going on. I'm going to try and be a little more creative in the future. But the future isn't here yet, so I'm going to resume my Monday-morning-what-we-did-this-weekend post :)

Here are some highlights:

- Todd made us a cake

- Breakfast with a house full of friends (including 3 fabulous house guests- Kristin, Megan & Rachel and Drinkwine and Alli!)

- Coolidge park for soccer, snacks, a rowing tournament and great friends

- Going to bed early

- Hanging out with my favorite baby

- Spending 2 1/2 hours at Walmart with Becca & Kate

- Stinky boys after playing golf
- Loving where we are and who we're with.

it's fall!

It is 44* in Chattanooga right now. Holy cow! No wonder I'm cold! I do LOVE the fall weather and it made for such a fabulous weekend. You can always count on a great Monday morning post of our weekend happenings :).

Friday: Nothing.

Saturday: Morning errands, a little baking, and FAMILY! My mom, dad and Greg got into town around 12:30 and it was SO great having them here. We missed Ashley big time though! Saturday we ventured out to Whitwell for the Ketner's Mill festivities. Since David and I are new to town, we thought we'd check it out. We all had a great time since the weather was absolutely perfect and it was good just to be outside. It was a bit of a bummer that we spent more time driving than we actually did at the mill and that it cost $5 to just get in. It probably isn't something we'll do on an annual basis, but it was fun to check it out.

When we got home, Dad and David scoped out a potential "man room" addition that has become David's newest project, and Mom and I (Greg watched) worked on my newest project- sewing! She brought me one of her sewing machines so I can polish my [few] skills, and she refreshed my memory on the whole thing. We made Brianna this cute Halloween pillowcase dress and hair bow (it's going in the mail today, Beth!):
This Saturday is Greg's 17th birthday, so we celebrated early with the peanut butter cookies I made:We went to dinner at Big River and headed home to watch a movie. Unfortunately, the movie of choice was Saw 4, so I opted out. The rest of the fam tortured themselves through the entire thing though!

Sunday: We had a lazy Sunday morning, complete with Dunkin' Donuts that came all the way from Newnan, GA. Man, I miss Dunkin' Donuts... When I finally got ready to go, David and I took the fam on a little Chatty outing. We went back to Renaissance Park and enjoyed the gorgeous day, great company and a beautiful city with fun photo ops!

Lastly we drove through the National Cemetery, which we all enjoyed, but especially my dad :).

All in all, it was SUCH a fabulous weekend (well, day really) with my family here! I'm glad they aren't far down the road so they can come back and visit soon!

After everyone left, we watched some of The Office (of course) and then headed to the Rochas! We just hung out with Becca, Keith and Kate, watching football and doing stuff around the house and then we ventured out to enjoy the great outdoors! Again, the weather was perfect and our night was just as good. We went on a walk and threw the football and it was a perfect fall day! It quickly turned cool(er) and we made a fire and sipped on hot chocolate. That baby is just durn perfect, and it was so fun to pass her around and love on her all night.

good for your soul

I didn't get a chance to blog about Wednesday night before Kate came- and she was WAY more important and exciting to talk about! So now you get to hear about our date night :).


Wednesday morning David told me he had something planned for us to do after work, but he wouldn't tell me what it was. I was super excited and anxious all day because I love surprises! So, I got to his office (we carpool and I drop him off and pick him up... it just works well that way) and he popped the trunk to reveal a change of clothes for each of us, a picnic blanket and dinner stuff! I was pumped. We went down to Coolidge Park and walked along the river and all through Renaissance Park. Neither of us had ever explored down there and it was SO fun! We are planning on taking my mom, dad and Greg through there this weekend. The weather was perfect and so was the company! We finally walked up to Subway, got sandwiches and made our pallet on the grass. It was wonderful. I smiled from ear to ear the whole night because it was just wonderful to be outside and be with David. Nights like that are good for your soul.

Why can't every weekend be 3 days??

Alright, I've resigned myself to the reality that I will only post on this blog on weekdays, and only when I have something exciting to talk about (or at least pictures to show). We had a fabulous long weekend! Mostly because it was long. Thursday was great because David got off work 2 hours early and got to hang out with me at work (which made him really happy to be carpooling to work... yeah right)! We enjoyed a restful evening at the Jenkins', but David mostly slept. Here he is napping on the porch (before his nap on the couch):

And really I'm not a stalker, walking around taking pictures of him sleeping... I just thought about how wonderful it is to a) take a nap and b) have a screened in porch to do it on! We are both very excited about many naps on our porch to come :).

The 4th of July was an equally fabulous day. We joined the Jenkins' brood for the annual Signal Mountain parade, and it was awesome. Laney and Ellie were IN the parade and they were rock stars! Afterwards, we went out to the Jenkins' (Mark's parents) house on the lake in Soddy. Though the jet ski only ran about 1.375 mph, it was awesome! We played with the kids, met the whole fam and went on a sweet boat ride around the lake. It was SO great of them to include us in their family festivities (Sorry I don't have any pictures... Shelby does though).

That night, David and I watched the fireworks from the Signal Mountain Country Club. It was SO fun! Sarah was supposed to join us, but got sick again :(. We missed you!

We had an awesome treat on Saturday because my parents came into town! David and I spent the morning with some friends and then met up w/ my 'rents for a few hours. It was really good to see them- especially since it was the last time we'll see them until the week of the wedding! Ah! Plus, we had a cool opportunity just to talk. And eat at Sticky Fingers. Good times were had by all.

Sunday started with us taking advantage of two things: 1. we are new to this city, so we can pretend to be tourists every now and then and 2. David got free passes to the Incline Railway. So, since David had never been, we rode the Incline Railway!


It was really cool! I don't really remember doing this, since I haven't been since a family vaca when I was probably 12, so it was fun for both of us. He also got passes to Ruby Falls and Rock City, so we're looking forward to more tourist outings in the near future!

Last night, I joined the club and had a migraine. (I even threw up, Pukey.) It was miserable. But, David loves me so much and he took such good care of me. Plus, it helped that I live with a doc and a fellow migraine sufferer. What am I going to do when this communal living ends?! But seriously, it was horrible, but I'm over it. It was probably induced by my sunbathing and no food combo for the day (PS- Becca, we totally went to your pool yesterday! It was incredible!). Now I know!!

And now... I'm back at work. David is back at work. And Ashley & Courtney are on their way to Uncle Powell's. Boo work!!
